But the thing that's missing, as you stare at a photograph and take in the beauty of the scene, is the sounds.
I was out shooting the freshly fallen snow on the landscape in Reading, PA.


It was peaceful and beautiful outside at about half past noon on Monday. But the one thing that the photographs don't capture is the sound of Canadian Geese in the distance. Everything else quiet with the snow falling... except for the lively chatter of geese. Something that photographs can't capture, but it was part of the moment.

I sometimes wish I carried a high-quality digital recorder with me, just to pick up the sounds around me. But I'm pretty sure I could never trade my SLR for a video camera.
