Turns out the Ugly Ripe tomato is the American equivalent of the French Marmande tomato, similar to a beefsteak tomato. Still... a great name.

I Say Tomato, You Say Ugly
Special thanks to Sam for pointing this out to us while we were at the grocery here in PA. Shot with my camera phone, so the quality is just ok.
It's good to know that the grocery is just downright honest about the quality of their tomatoes.
Turns out the Ugly Ripe tomato is the American equivalent of the French Marmande tomato, similar to a beefsteak tomato. Still... a great name.
