For many years, since Survivor All Stars back in 2002-2003, I have been hooked on Survivor. I watched almost every season, minus one or two. Yet the last two years, ever since Yau-man was voted off the first time, my loyalty started to waiver. I didn't like how the good guy wasn't guaranteed to win. I was mad that Aras won, was angrier and in shock when Parvati won, and wasn't even rooting for Bob last season because I didn't want my hopes squashed since good guys never win. When Bob actually won, I had already detached myself from him so much it was too late to jump on his fan club.
Yet this year, I am not watching Survivor. I'm not even watching American Idol. Only one show have I been faithfully waiting for and watching. (I do catch Lost online when I have time). This show is called Biggest Loser.
Before, I always thought the show was a little lame. I thought, why would I want to watch people lose weight?
Yet after persuasion from the Laus and CWang, I gave it a try. Fell for it on first viewing.
"The Biggest Loser Club changes lives!" That's the slogan from the show, and I believe it. This season, there is a father, who weighed close to 400 lbs, and his 18 year old son, who weighed about the same. The father was told that if he didn't change his life, he would have one year to live. His son, who wants to be a doctor, was told that he would have about five years to live. After 16 weeks, the father lost close to 100 lbs, while the son has lost over 150 lbs. There was a 16 year old boy who weighed 400 lbs, and after losing 40 lbs, was told that he would not need insulin anymore. (I have no idea the medical reason for why he can get off insulin, but see, The Biggest Loser Club changes lives!)
Every single show, I cry. The people on the show are so inspirational. One girl, who weighed 300 lbs, but now weighs 180, ran a half marathon in 2 hours and 15 minutes. These people are throwing off their food addictions and reclaiming their lives.
Last week, when they had their makeover by Tim Gunn and haircut by Tabitha, I cried non-stop. I cried when the 18 year old, mentioned above, met up with his brother. His 16 year old brother was crying because he was the only fat one in the family. The 18 year old then told him that he would do anything to help change that.
After two hours of straight crying, I felt exhausted, but really inspired. Wow, I Heart BL. Wait, that looks like I love myself.

I have never seen you cry this much over tv since that time they showed The Karate Kid (I). And the time before that was when we watched The Cutting Edge and they did the pamchenko.
it's ok. i would feel better if they came back after 2 years and the weight was still off. most ppl gain the weight back, which is a shame.
Oh Bethany...I love you too! and also the show :)
The Final-5 episode is on right now...the father&son(18 yr) team are still in the game, and I'm rooting for them. If you have time, we can watch (and cry) together next wk.
