The Settlers of 卡坦岛

卡坦岛 (kǎtǎndǎo) is the Chinese transliteration of the infamous Catan Island.

Tonight, while browsing on the taobao site (that's like the Chinese equivalent of ebay), I discovered that Settlers of Catan is available in Chinese, and you can buy it online, new, for about 70 RMB, or just over USD $10.

And this production looks like a legitimate, authorized release of the game, not some cheap knock-off. Box, instructions, board, cards, everything... looks good, and it's all in Chinese. Very impressive. And what a great way to practice language!

I can read the Development cards (er, at least, the titles... maybe not the descriptions just yet)! 最大士兵 (zuì dà shì bīng) means Largest Army, and 最长道路 (zuì cháng dào lù) means Longest Road.

Tempting to buy. But, we'll see.
