A couple months ago, I was with my friend from the states who moved to my city around the same time I did, and we both went to the airport bathroom. I said, "the first stall is a squatty potty but the rest are western toilets." So she said, "ok." So we separated, and when I came out of my stall, I realized that she went to the squatty. I asked her why, and she said, she now prefers the squatty because you don't have to touch anything (ie. the toilet seat or flusher.) I remember I couldn't stop laughing at the idea of her liking the squatty.
After a couple of weeks, I started to realize that she has a point. If you roll up your pant leg before going, then you just squat and then you are done. With a western toilet, I would squat anyway because there are no toilet seat covers. Then, I might even have to use my own tissue paper to have to clean up the toilet seat.
So now, when I go to the pizza place that has a choice of western or squatty, I choose the squatty.

Squatties are totally the way to go. I'd put one in my house (next to the one with the Japanese toilet seat). Think of the benefits - aside from it being cleaner, you won't have to worry about people sitting there reading endlessly. However, I have a feeling that if I ever try to sell my dream house with the squatty, I'd have to knock it out anyway because it'd decrease the property value.
we have a friend (here in LA) put in a urinal (for him of course) next to the regular toilet seat when he remodelled his house. I think people here in the States start catching the idea.
I COMPLETELY agree with your friend. I'm too short to squat over Western toilets so I think squatties are so much cleaner - the flushable ones, that is. :) And think of how much paper we'd save by not having to use toilet seat covers!
