The Equipment - all carefully laid out the night before.
Sugar - the basic white sugar here is a little bit wet and fluffy.
Milk - sold here, in boxes with about 18 pouches each. Unrefrigerated. Seems to be fine with everyone else, so it's fine with me.
Whole Bean Coffee - 1 Pound of Starbucks Komodo Dragon. Don't worry... I didn't brew the whole pound. But, ask me again in 2 weeks.
Hand Grinder - Made by GSI, purchased at REI. Had a lot of trouble finding a place that would sell inexpensive hand grinders. But I couldn't get one that plugged in, since outlet voltages are different here. But would you believe it... REI had one, for $15! For all those coffee addicts who go camping and have no electricity...
Hand Grinder mounted on French Press - The grinder is designed to be able to mount onto various size presses. Convenient, eh? Will be working to perfect the level of coarseness for the grinding. By my second half-pot on Friday morning, I think I had it pretty good. By my third half-pot on Friday afternoon :) I had the coarseness at about where I liked it.
Add Hot Water... and Wait - There it is. Doing it's magic. Doesn't it look so good and tempting? Caution - do not lick your computer screen.
Final Product - So good. French Press coffee is the kind that leaves you with a little bit of mud at the bottom.
All in all... awesome. Now I can't wait to start my morning this way every day.

1. did you buy the grinder online from REI b/c ours didn't have them in the store.
2. where did you get the beans? (bring them with you?)

1. Saw the grinder first online at REI selling for $20, called our local store (Manhattan Beach), and they said that they had 1 left, but it was last year's model, but the guy didn't see any difference between the last year's and this year's. And it was selling for $15! But, you can order it online. So far, the grinder has been working out well. A little bit of a forearm workout for the arm that steadies the grinder while the other one grinds. But, still good.
2. I wish I could say that I bought the beans at the SBUX which is a 2-minute bike ride from our place, but I believe the nearest SBUX is actually a 61-hour bike ride from our place. :( So, I brought this pound with me. One reference (that I just looked up) says there are about 75 tablespoons in 1 pound of coffee. That means I've got about 50 cups worth of coffee... maybe 30 days? Then I've got my 50 or so emergency VIA packs... maybe 30 more days?
Heard from friends here that Peet's coffee delivers here. You can join some sort of "coffee of the month" (or week, or day, depending on the extent of your addiction), and they will actually deliver overseas. Not that I'm advocating for Peet's. Just saying... it's an option.
