Back Home

1st Stroll in City
We have arrived. Actually, we arrived to our home on Thursday, but it has taken me a couple days to get settled. On Friday, we took Meliya for a little stroll around our complex. She has been doing pretty well, but she still has some jet lag. She is now only about 1 1/2 hours off of her usual schedule for night and awakening time. It took me a couple days too to recover, but it was a lot better going back to the East, than going to the states. When I went to the states, I couldn't fall asleep until 4am. Now, I fall asleep around 8-9am and wake up awake at 4am. I rather have it this way than sitting in bed hoping to fall asleep.

The plane ride over was pretty good. Meliya slept well. She was the only baby on the plane, and the flight attendants went crazy over her. Flight attendant, Peter, from San Pedro, was super nice and within minutes of us arriving on the plane, he took Meliya off our hands so we could get set up. Meliya even got her first wings pin. Personally, I have always wanted one.

The first few days back for Meliya was really hard. She hated the hotel room we stayed at for our layover (it was too hot). During our layover, we also went to Ikea. It turned out that day was also a national holiday, so Ikea was super packed. We were out all day, and Meliya only napped for an hour and a half total that day. She (and I), missed having a car seat/stroller combo that she could nap in when we are out.

Upon arriving back, I started getting some culture shock. I never got reverse culture shock when I went to the states, but upon setting foot back in our city, I was accosted by cigarette smoke everywhere, cars not yielding to pedestrians, and people cutting in line. Right before I left, I wasn't bothered by these things, but I guess after being spoiled for four months in the states, I was a little annoyed. Well, that just means now I will have to watch very closely while I walk across the street.
