Chinese Volleyball Team

I recently joined a volleyball team. Well, it's more like a volleyball club - maybe about 10-15 people who get together every Sunday afternoon to play volleyball. But a handful of us (including me) are slowly making preparations to form a team to play in a league (at least, from my limited Chinese, that's how I understand it... I think).

We began practices last week. It's not just... get together and play some volleyball. Our first 90 minutes are spent running lines and doing blocking drills and digging drills and getting penalized with pushups or kangaroos if you make a bad pass.

I am now on the other side of 30, and almost all of the other guys playing are college students. From their physical education classes or from teams they've been on recently, they are used to practices being like this. It has been a long time since I was on a competitive league team; I have forgotten what it was like to be in drills and do cross training. It's good, but I'm worn out.

from the picture, it looks like you are playing volley ball on sandy ground, or is it? 30th? Still very young and besides, it is just a number!

Actually, this picture is from a few years ago. Here, we play indoors in a gym... but I haven't taken pictures yet.
